WAFIC provides a range of services to the commercial fishing industry ranging from government and media liaison through to the delivery of services under specific programs.
Marine Facilities
WAFIC regularly liaises with the Department for Planning and Infrastructure on a range of strategic issues relating to Harbour / Marina management and related facilities.
WAFIC is also represented on the Ministerial Fishing Industry Advisory Committee (MFIAC) that advises the Minister on such matters. It is noted that four members from the commercial fishing industry are also members of MFIAC.
WAFIC also has a close working relationship with the Department for Planning and Infrastructure on all marine safety issues, and in fact is represented on a marine safety sub committee to monitor developments on such matters as Uniform Shipping Laws and marine vessel surveys.
