Wild harvest
![]() |
The annual Western Australian commercial harvest is primarily generated by the State’s major export fisheries – western rocklobster, pearling, prawns, abalone and scallops. These high quality, high value fisheries, export to Japan, Hong Kong, USA, Taiwan and China. Western rocklobster is traditionally the nation’s most valuable wild-catch fishery.
Eight out of ten Western Australians buy the majority of their seafood. On average we consume 16 kilos of seafood and fish per year per person and it’s the professional fishermen working our coastline that supply seafood buying consumers with their share of the Western Australian harvest.
