James Paratore - Director
James has been actively involved with the Rock Lobster Industry since he was 12 years old working with his Father on FB 'Vanessa James'. His family has been involved with Rock Lobster fishing in WA since the 1960's, and his extended family still ply their trade in Italy using different forms of fishing.
James possesses a diverse background, the most prominent example being his other career choice, where in 2004, he completed a Bachelor of Pharmacy at Curtin University.
In 2008, he was elected to represent C zone on the Board of the Western Rock Lobster Council. Most recently, he was asked to particpate and present during the young leaders' workshop at the National Rock Lobster Congress in Adelaide.
He sees his appointment to this leadership role as a chance to restore the industries' link between a very proud Western Australian Fishing Community, serving to realign and promote its duty as custodians of the ocean, and guarantee its role as ambassadors of the sea. He looks forward to helping shape a new and prosperous path for the entire Western Australian Fishing Community. | |||

Peter Glass - Director
Peter Glass was elected to the WAFIC Board in 2009 thanks to the support of his fellow fishermen. He is a second generation lobster fisherman from Kalbarri and has been involved in the industry in one capacity or another for most of his life.
He was a rocklobster fisherman until 1996, when he decided to step out until the fishery's future management direction had been addressed. He is presently looking at actively rejoining the lobster industry now it has taken what he believes to be the positive step towards becoming a quota managed fishery.
Besides being on the Board of WAFIC, he is currently president of the Shark Bay Snapper Fisherman's Assocation and is pleased to say that as a quota managed fishery it has achieved some great results in recent years thanks to the cooperative approach taken between management and industry.
Peter's vision for the future is for the fishing industry to unit and meet the many challenges that lie ahead. He believes industry needs to set aside its differences and encourage the youth to get involved with a view to progressing the industry towards self-management over time. |
