WRLC Appoints New CEO Matt Taylor
The Western Rock Lobster Council (WRLC), the peak body representing the commercial western rock lobster fishermen of WA, has formally announced the appointment of Matt Taylor as the new Chief Executive Officer of the organisation and will commence his role on 10 July 2017.
Alex Ogg, acting CEO of WAFIC, met with Matt today and had positive discussions about collaboration across industry and future initiatives.
“Matt brings a unique skill set spanning industry involvement, credentials in seafood science and research, and most recently active engagement in our government process as the member for Bateman.”

Matt has vast experience in the fishing industry completing a degree in aquaculture and seafood science with Honours and working as a commercial fisherman across numerous sectors. He has worked in political and leadership roles, most recently as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for State Development; Transport; and Innovation where he was a strong advocate for the fishing and aquaculture industries.
Announcing Matt’s appointment, is Chairman of WRLC Kim Colero who says the new appointment will help take the organisation and the western rock lobster industry to a whole new level.
“Matt will be an excellent addition to the WRLC and we are excited about his future contribution to both the WRLC and the industry as a whole”, he says.
