Seafood Consumption
“Eight out of ten Western Australians buy their seafood at fresh fish markets, supermarkets, restaurants or fish and chip shops rather than catching it.”*
Commercial fishers are the vital link that supply seafood to the vast majority of the community who choose to buy their seafood.
Seafood is often recognised as our national dish, and eating fresh local seafood in WA is an essential part of our lifestyle. Commercial fishers also play a vital role in supplying seafood to the tourism and hospitality sectors.
