Hobart named as host city for Seafood Directions 2024

Seafood Industry Australia has confirmed Australia’s national seafood industry conference, Seafood Directions, will take place at the Hotel Grand Chancellor overlooking Hobart’s stunning waterfront from 10-12 September 2024.

With these details now confirmed, the WA Fishing Industry Council will soon confirm dates for the WA State Seafood Industry Awards event, which is tentatively booked to be held in Fremantle in May 2024.

WA Fishing Industry Council Chief Executive Officer, Darryl Hockey said that COVID and border closures delayed last year’s Seafood Directions conference by 12 months, which created unseen issues for WA industry members.

“Delaying the national event meant the WA Seafood Industry Awards ran more than a year earlier than the rest of Australia, which subsequently made it harder for WA winners to update their submissions and be competitive for national selection.”

“As such, we will be moving the date for our WA event closer to the national conference, and are currently looking at May 2024.

The 2021 WA Seafood Industry Awards set new records for ticket sales, with a number of our State winners going on to take out the national award category as well,” Darryl said.

The three-day national conference program will feature keynote presentations, panel discussions, interactive workshops and industry exhibitions covering a broad range of topics including climate resilience, nature, collaboration and sustainability. The conference will be capped off by the industry’s night-of-nights, the National Seafood Industry Awards, celebrating the contribution of individuals, businesses and organisations to the Australian seafood industry over the last two years.

WAFIC will confirm its WA event date next month.

Early bird tickets will open for the national Seafood Directions conference in January 2024. Keep in touch at the Seafood Directions website.
