The proposed Gascoyne Gateway Marine Complex (GGMC) is now open for public comment.
Proposed by Gascoyne Gateway Limited, the GGMC is an Australian owned, privately funded, multi-user marine facility, to be located 10 kilometres south of Exmouth, Western Australia.
Key components of the proposed marine complex include a deep-water wharf, renewables energy hub, desalination plant, fuel storage facility, and related onshore infrastructure. It will be situated next to the existing industrial area and has been designed to operate within ecological limits and actively restore the systems it depends on.
After six years of research and studies, the consolidated Environmental Review Document (ERD) and full set of supporting studies are now available for public comment until 16th November 2026. It is an assessment across marine fauna, benthic habitats, coastal processes, marine environmental quality, social surroundings, subterranean fauna, flora and vegetation, and inland waters, along with how we propose to avoid, mitigate and manage them.
The GGMC is being assessed through a Public Environmental Review and with a 12-week public comment period, the maximum extent possible in Western Australia.
