Stakeholder Engagement
Fisheries Council WA
As the most comprehensive forum for fisheries stakeholders in WA, the Fisheries Council brings together key representatives from WAFIC, Aquaculture Council WA, Western Rock Lobster and Recfishwest. Chaired by the Minister and convened twice annually, the Council addresses high-level strategic issues and is currently collaborating on reforms to the Fish Resources and Management Act to deliver meaningful legislative outcomes.
Ministerial engagement
WAFIC maintains regular dialogue with the Minister and her policy team to ensure that the commercial fishing sector’s perspectives are clearly communicated and understood. These meetings and briefings are instrumental in shaping responsive and informed policy outcomes.
‘Meet the Minister’ breakfast
Following the success of the 2025 event, WAFIC is establishing this as an annual platform for members, fishers and licence holders to engage directly with the Minister. This structured forum fosters open dialogue and helps identify actionable solutions to industry challenges.
