Sea Harvest Australia: Pioneering Sustainable Seafood Excellence

Sustainable seafood innovations has seen Sea Harvest Australia, presented with the Seafood Industry Producer Award, sponsored by Western Rock Lobster, at the 2024 Western Australian Seafood Industry Awards.

The Awards event, recognising excellence in the WA seafood industry, was held at The Esplanade Hotel in Fremantle and opened by Minister for Fisheries Hon Don Punch MLA in front of an audience of industry participants and seafood representatives.

Sea Harvest Australia is leading the charge in sustainable seafood production, setting a gold standard with their innovative fishing practices.

The company’s dedication to ocean conservation is evident in their pioneering techniques, such as freezing seafood on board and utilising eco-friendly fishing nets, which have earned them Marine Stewardship Council certification for Shark Bay and Exmouth Fisheries.

General Manager Commercial, Demetri Demosthenous said Sea Harvest prioritises sustainability, alongside delivery of quality products and customer satisfaction.

WA Fishing Industry Council (WAFIC) CEO, Darryl Hockey said Sea Harvest Australia had demonstrated excellence in the sustainable production of quality seafood through innovation in fishing practices, and that the company had contributed substantially towards a positive public profile for the seafood industry.

“As an industry body, WAFIC recognises the importance of acknowledging those individuals and organisations who make a substantial contribution to benefiting our industry, and Sea Harvest Australia’s operation is certainly a worthy recipient of this award,” Mr Hockey concluded.
