Commitment to WA seafood and service a winner for Endeavour Foods

A focus on delivering outstanding service and supplying the best of Western Australia’s premium seafood has proved to be a winning combination for Endeavour Foods, as it was awarded the title of WA’s Best Restaurant Supplier at this year’s Australian Hotel Association Awards.

The award coincides with the company’s 20th anniversary.

Company founder and Managing Director, John Sharland said the award is an affirmation that quality food and outstanding service are timeless cornerstones for business longevity and success.

“For us, a lot of our work is based on building enduring relationships. Knowing our customers and understanding their businesses, their goals and their preferences is important. So when we receive our daily catch, we call the chefs to talk about what they like and update them on any additional seafoods we may have in case they want something a little special.

“It’s these genuine relationships with customers and suppliers that you celebrate during the good times, but they also keep things moving along in the tough times.

“We have all just come through one of the toughest years on record for business, and yet we still have a capacity to win this award, because of our commitment to customers, our suppliers and their connections to Endeavour Foods,” John said.

Located in Hamilton Hill, close to Fremantle’s fishing wharves, the Endeavour Foods Purchasing Team are up early to secure the freshest fish from various boat unloads per week.

“We want to know the story about the catch, what’s available, the timeline and the conditions they were caught in so we can share that with our chefs and customers. Everyone loves a good sea story – particularly a premium chef. Best of all, once the chef’s requests are in, we fillet and prepare their fish to order before delivery, so it’s as fresh as it gets. It’s all part of the service,” he said.

So what’s next for this multi-award winning seafood business?

John said growth is always on the radar, but it would be incremental and would never exceed the company’s capacity to deliver its products and personalised levels of service.

“We’ve got a great reputation as one of the few remaining WA-owned and operated seafood businesses and will continue to grow. You can expect to see a little more of us as we build our marketing brand and sales pipeline over the coming year, but it will be controlled growth to align with our service philosophy and customer support.

“We really value the acknowledgment of awards and I’m delighted that our work and our team has been recognised, but winning awards is not an end-game. We had fun on the night, but were back at work the next morning meeting fishermen, preparing their fish and loading our trucks. Same as every day. It’s what we love and that is one of our keys to success,” John added.

Relationships and service are the keys to success for the Endeavour Foods team.
