Invitation to attend an important meeting to discuss critical issues facing the MidWest commercial fishing industry

WAFIC invites all commercial fishers and interested parties to attend an important meeting in Geraldton to discuss key issues facing the future of WA fisheries, particularly those in the MidWest region.

Date and time: Friday 23 June 2023 from 3pm to 6.30pm

Location: Geraldton Gun Club, 299 Eighth Street, Wonthella

The event will be a Sundowner format and includes discussions on a range of challenges, including the loss of access to commercial fishing and resultant impacts on local communities, as well as impacts on fresh WA seafood supply to local markets.

All discussions will include ample opportunity for comment and direct questions from attendees:

  • The growing loss of access to commercial fishing and resultant impacts on local communities and fresh WA seafood supply to local markets
  • Marine Parks
  • Windfarms, hydrogen hubs and seismic surveys
  • WA food supply and food security
  • West Coast demersal update
  • Worker shortages

This meeting is an opportunity not to be missed.

WAFIC is ensuring it properly represents the interests of fishers, aquaculture developers and associated fisheries businesses by providing attendees with open access to a broad understanding of the issues, not just those pertaining to their own specific operations.

The event will include some refreshments, light BBQ snacks and further discussions.

Download the invitation here and RSVP to [email protected] before 21 June 2023.
