K+S Salt shuts down Pilbara salt plans
The world’s largest solar salt operator has announced it will no longer pursue plans to open its massive Ashburton Salt project in the Pilbara.
While K+S Salt cited “shifting strategic directions” as the reason for stepping away from its Pilbara plans, the project was being heavily criticised for its potential environmental impacts, with WAFIC investing significant time and resources into its monitoring and public submission.
The project proposal was before the Environmental Protection Authority when it was withdrawn.
A special thanks to the WAFIC project team who worked on the environmental case and public submission. You can read more here.
