New Boat Show and Seafood Festival coming to Fremantle

As the major hub for fisheries in Western Australia and the home to numerous boat manufacturers and sailing clubs, Fremantle is the ideal location for a new event that combines a Boat Show with a celebration of West Australian Seafood and local craft beer.

The Fremantle Boat Show and Fremantle Seafood Festival will be held from Friday 11 to Sunday 13 March 2022 and is set to attract 15,000-20,000 people across a weekend.

Event Director, Peter Woods, said an on-water Boat Show will be popular and beneficial for the WA marine industry, and that accompanying the event with a world-class Seafood Festival was an ideal combination.

“The Fremantle Boat Show is something we have been planning for several years because the industry was missing an event that catered for big boats and sailing yachts,” Peter said.

“Fremantle Boat Harbour is the ideal location to showcase these larger boats on water and utilising hardstand areas on The Esplanade means there is ample room for trailerboats and accessories.”

“We are also extremely excited to be bringing back the popular Fremantle Seafood Festival, an event which ran for several years but hasn’t been held since 2016.”

“The Fremantle Seafood Festival celebrates the abundance of seafood and the history of the industry that the Fremantle Port city is famous for.”

“Western Australia has the best seafood in the world. We will be working with organisations such as WAFIC DPIRD Fisheries, and big names in WA seafood such as Western Rock Lobster, Cone Bay Barramundi, Fremantle Octopus, Fremantle Sardines, and Shark Bay Prawns to bring their best produce to the public at the Fremantle Seafood Festival.”

“The event will have a strong focus on fresh organic local produce as well as promoting the State’s premium wines, craft beers and boutique beverages.”

“The festival will feature attractions and entertainment for the whole family including wine and food tastings, seafood cooking demonstrations on stage, celebrity chefs, fishing demonstrations and information and more,” Peter said.

The Fremantle Boat Show and Seafood Festival is sponsored by the City of Fremantle with support from WAFIC, Western Rock Lobster, and Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development.
