ProWest News – More of DBCA’s dirty tricks come to light
It was interesting to see the recent ABC coverage which exposed how the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) was allegedly pressured by former WA Premier, Mark McGowan, to overturn an environmental decision on one-hour’s notice, before the then Premier held a media conference.
The key issue at stake is that the EPA is an independent, autonomous body – within the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA – set up so governments and other self-interested parties can’t overtly influence decision making. Yet allegedly, a call from the Premier can deliver a different outcome to that agreed by the Board.
It shows another side of how DBCA is corrupting its processes to deliver a pre-determined outcome for the proposed South Coast Marine Park.
