Safety reminder about cyclone contingency plans
While we are in the late stages of cyclone season, we are still seeing a few lurking along the coast over recent weeks, making for a timely reminder for businesses to ensure they have adequate plans in place to protect everyone in the workplace when a cyclone threatens.
Employers have an obligation to ensure their staff are aware of these plans and have had appropriate training to act on the plans to keep themselves and their colleagues safe.
Whether a workplace is a fishing vessel, or in a land-based location, everyone should be trained in the cyclone contingency plan and follow all instructions given when a cyclone is approaching.
