Staff changes at WAFIC

After more than four years on the frontline of policy and fisheries management, Laura Harrison has decided it’s time to step off the boat.

Laura has made a valuable contribution to WAFIC and the broader seafood industry during her time with the organisation, particularly across fisheries policy, sustainability initiatives and industry engagement. We thank Laura for her contribution and wish her all the best for the future.

Laura’s last day at WAFIC on 25 May 2026. She will be sadly missed.

As Laura prepares to depart, WAFIC has welcomed its latest starter, with Rob Hoschke who has joined the team as a research and Policy Officer.

Rob brings with him a PhD and a passion for fisheries management and policy setting.

To ensure continuity of service to industry, Laura’s current responsibilities are being transitioned across the WAFIC team.

In the interim:

  • Demersal, CFAS, VFAS and Exmouth Gulf Marine Park matters can continue to be directed to Manue Daniels; and
  • MSC and fisheries specific queries outside of Demersal can be directed to Rob and the wider WAFIC team as appropriate.

Laura’s current working days remain Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

During this transition period, industry members are encouraged to contact the broader WAFIC team for urgent matters to assist with continuity of service. If industry members are unsure who to contact regarding a particular matter, they are welcome to contact either Manue [email protected] or Rob [email protected].

To assist with continuity during the transition, Laura’s WAFIC email account will remain active for a period following her departure to ensure important correspondence is appropriately redirected.

WAFIC remains fully operational and committed to supporting industry during this transition period and will endeavour to progress recruitment to fill the role as soon as practical.

We thank industry for their ongoing support and cooperation during this transition period.
