Industry Advocation

As Western Australia’s peak industry body for commercial fisheries, WAFIC plays a pivotal role in advocating for the sector and ensuring strong, outcome-focused industry representation.

Advocacy is central to WAFIC’s mission and involves proactive engagement with a broad range of stakeholders, including government departments such as DPIRD, industry developers, environmental agencies, oil and gas proponents and other key parties to drive practical and effective outcomes for the commercial fishing industry.

WAFIC’s advocacy efforts are designed to influence decision-making and policy development through strategic representation in Ministerial forums, targeted meetings, workshops and media engagement.
