I believe I can Fry: top 3 WA finalists announced in this year’s National Fish and Chip awards
Everyone has their own opinion about what makes the best fish and chips – for some people it is about the batter and for others it comes down to fresh WA seafood.
But the votes are in and the WA finalists in this year’s National Fish & Chip awards have been announced, revealing the top 3 fish and chip restaurants in the state for 2017.
Drumroll, please:
- Ocean and Paddock – Albany
- Bayside Fish and Chips – Safety Bay
- Blue Ocean Fish and Chips – Augusta
To reach this stage in the competition, the restaurants have been marked by the public across a range of criteria including taste, service, choice, information and labelling.
The top 3 chippies will now go head to head to compete for the coveted title of Judged Best Fish and Chips of the year.
They will receive visits from mystery shoppers to gauge customer service levels and the quality of the food served on a typical day.
With final days left until the winner is announced, Danika Gusmeroli, WAFIC’s communication officer is urging the general public to continue supporting WA fish and chip shops and seafood after the competition closes.
“It is fantastic to see the high number of quality fish and chip shops to choose from in WA.
“That is why as a consumer, it is important to keep supporting your local chippie after the competition. They are strong advocates for the seafood industry – supporting local fishermen and teaching their customers about WA seafood.
“And many are up for a good old-fashioned chat which is what I love”, she exclaimed.
Make sure you watch this space as the winner of the judges choice award will be announced at the State Seafood Awards on 3 August 2017 and will go to through to compete for the National awards held Thursday 28 September in Sydney.
