Indian Ocean Fresh Shines in Sydney

Over 60 quality producers attended the event.

Indian Ocean Fresh Australia’s (IOFA) Director – Erica Starling, Technical Manager – Justine Arnold and Sales and Administration representatives -Joanne Drage and Rosie Oliveri, travelled to Sydney recently to showcase their quality Western Australian produce, Geraldton Kingfish, at this year’s LollaProducer event.

Team from Indian Ocean Fresh Australia headed to Sydney to promote the quality species.

The food show was held at Carriageworks in Sydney (a contemporary multi-arts centre) which was transformed into an energetic marketplace for the day and 60 top class Australian producers were showcased. The objective was to connect these high quality primary producers to chefs throughout Australia.

This platform gave the team, who grow the fish from Geraldton based Indian Ocean Fresh Australia, the opportunity to educate patrons on the quality of their fish. Not only did chefs hear firsthand the success of the finfish operation, they learnt about company accolades such as winning Gold at the Sydney Royal Fine Food Show and becoming the State winner in the 2018 delicious Produce Awards.

IOFA invited chef Coby Cockburn from Blue Manna Bistro in Dunsborough to attend the event and prepare tastings for the attendees. Coby regularly features Geraldton Kingfish on his menu – receiving fresh fish through IOFA WA distributor, Endeavour Foods. Coby displayed his kitchen talent by creating delicious Geraldton Kingfish samples of sashimi, poke and nummus (picked fish) for patrons to try.

LollaProducer was brought to life by John Susman from Fishtales and Alexandra Olsson from Olsson’s Sea Salt – who are passionate about promoting diversity and excellence of Australia’s quality produce. The event is specifically aimed at the food service sector – to connect chefs directly to producers.

Erica Starling said that the event serviced as an excellent platform to meet directly with not only existing distributors, restaurants, chefs and customers but also with new ones.

“The benefit in an event like this is that it is very interactive – and this is invaluable for a company such as Indian Ocean Fresh Australia.”

“It offers the opportunity for us to not only tell our story but for patrons to taste it. The event provided a wonderful way for us to showcase the versatility and quality of our fish.”
