WA seafood on show this summer
WA seafood is amongst the most sought after in the world because of its quality and freshness, so what better way to celebrate the industry, than through a summer seafood festival…
This summer, the best of WA seafood will be on show throughout a three-day and night event held on February 2nd ,3rd and 4th.
Located at North Fremantle restaurant Coast Port Beach, the beach and carpark adjacent, will transform into a laid-back summer festival scene including tastings and cooking demonstrations.
Anticipated to be one of the key events on the WA culinary calendar, the ‘Fish and Sips Festival’ is designed to showcase the very best of WA local produce, from the seafood, to boutique wines, beers and ciders.
Anne Gare and Kate Lamont will join a host of local seafood producers, wine makers and restaurateurs to salute the very best of WA seafood.
With over 30 different stalls and themed tents, live music, cooking demonstrations and food trucks, the brain behind the event, Coast owner Ian Hutchinson, said the festival offers both producers and patrons a unique opportunity to sample the best of WA seafood.
“The aim of the festival is to showcase WA’s amazing local produce with the aim of raising the profile of seafood as a staple item on the menu of every day Western Australians.”
“The focus is on offering small bites and tastings from some of our leading chefs in an iconic, beachfront location.”
“For the producers it’s a chance to interact directly with customers and for those attending it provides an opportunity to take part in small group seafood cooking master classes, wine and food pairing sessions and wine and beer tastings.”
“In keeping with the coastal theme, we are anticipating it to be very relaxed and interactive with plenty of opportunity for those attending to chat with the chefs, producers, local restaurateurs and those running the stalls,” he said.
Sponsored by Kailis Brothers Seafoods, over 10,000 people are expected to attend the 5 different ticketed sessions from Friday through to Sunday. Ticket prices start at $17 for early bird( now sold out) and up to $25 which will include 3 tokens to use for samples of either food or drink.
