Have your say on Safety Management Systems
Following the introduction of mandatory changes to Safety Management System (SMS) requirements on 1 June 2025, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) is now working to improve the SMS information on its website to ensure navigation is quick and easy.
As part of this process, AMSA is providing industry stakeholders with an opportunity to trial its new SMS content structure and provide feedback on any improvements that may be required or should be considered.
There are two options for participation.
Option 1: You can take an online face-to-face interview with two members of our customer experience team, via Microsoft Teams. The interview will take approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour to complete and can be arranged for a time that suits you on weekdays from Wednesday 20 August to Monday 22 September.
Option 2: You can provide your feedback through an online link in your own time. The research activity could take around 30 minutes and can be done in your own time up until 22 September 2025.
The research will prompt you to answer some general questions about who you are, your role in the industry and then go through some task-based activities about using the website to find information on how to create an SMS to identify how well the website works and what needs to be improved.
