Fishy Business now on sale
With the highly anticipated opening of the new Sydney Fish Market fast approaching, there’s never been a better time to reflect on the Market’s rich and fascinating history.
Any fisher with a sense of history and heritage will enjoy a new book which has been released in the lead-up to the new Sydney Fish market.
Fishy Business is written by passionate Sydney Fish Market patron and former Senator John Faulkner and tells the story of Sydney’s most famous seafood institution.
The book captures traditional fishing practices of Sydney’s Aboriginal communities through to the centuries-old evolution seafood trade. The story covers the characters, political twists and the triumphs of hardworking families, many of whom arrived in Australia as migrants and built their lives around fishing and the sea and is supported by beautiful images.
It needs to be noted that all author proceeds from this book are being donated to Tribal Warrior, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to revitalising Aboriginal culture and promoting economic and social stability within Sydney’s Indigenous community.
