Perth fish market showcases WA seafood variety

WAFIC recently visited AJ Langfords fish market recently to better understand the role it plays within the WA seafood supply chain.

The team met with Geordie Buscombe, who manages the market and auctions the fresh catch on behalf of the industry. Geordie is a seafood icon who has been part of the Kailis Bros operations for many years.

It was interesting to hear Geordie explain how the market currently operates and outline the demand and appeal for the diverse range of species on the market floor, including mackerel from the north, locally caught scalies and black bream from southern estuaries.

It was valuable to piece together another important part of our seafood supply chain and better understand the opportunities that could potentially arise from this small, but vital market supporting the hospitality and retail sector in Perth.
